My brown fake leather boots make the leaves rustle. My hills playfully click against the wet concrete. I stroll while lazy evening sunrays brush against my cheeks. The air is damp with fall. Tomorrow’s Monday and it’s time to say hi.
Hi, beautiful human. It’s our first encounter and I wanted to take things a bit slower. And my“fall mood” must’ve been at play too. I feel everything tends to slow down naturally in the fall.
This is our first Creative Menu - a weekly creative digest by the pauza creative club. We will send the newsletter out every Monday at noon. Every Monday our soft and loving hands will bring you a list of curated events and activity ideas in Toronto, creative prompts, DIY projects, and sources of inspiration. To help you fill your life with creativity, walk into the week with inspiration and just to remind you about the little joys hiding in plain sight.
Well, this should be enough with the introductions. It’s time to get your hands on this week’s Menu.
Something beautiful to watch
Watch “Talk to Her” by Pedro Almodóvar at TIFF Lightbox on Saturday at 6:30 pm.
“Two men share an odd friendship while they care for two women who are both in deep comas”.
If you are in the mood for something non-Hollywood, something with an aftertaste this may be for you. Rated 7.9 on IMDB.
I suggest checking out the trailer first. The cinematography is beautiful, however, I am sure this won’t fit everybody’s taste.
A half-day trip to reconnect with nature
Last Friday I felt that it had been a while since I’d left the concrete jungle. On Saturday morning, I was on the GO train on the way to hike in Rouge Park. It smells like fall, feels like fall, and looks something like this:

Pack some lunch as this will take up at least a half of your day. I recommend Cedar Trail and Beare Hill Summit.
Google Maps will save me some words and will tell you how to get there.
Something to scroll through
I wanted to capture how my fall feels and made this Pinterest board. I invite you to create yours, with your unique feeling. And if you feel comfortable - share your board in the comments, would be great to see this fall through your eyes.
Mine happened to be mysterious, rainy, dark, and maybe even academia-coded. What is your fall aesthetic?
An Exhibition where you can spend hours
You can visit Alex Da Corte’s exhibition “Ear Worm” showcased at MOCA until January 26.
I know you can always read fancy concept descriptions elsewhere. I’ve visited the exhibition and would say it’s something worth seeing. Endless short clips with familiar characters in unfamiliar situations projected on large red cubes inside a room laid out with a soft yellow carpet. At the least, it is visually interesting. And in case you didn’t know, the Gallery has free admission on Fridays.
with love,
